On Immigration Issue: Hilary Clinton and Barack Obama Essay

Sleeping enclosure Obama and Hilary Clinton had both express their arrangements about the reconstruction of the movement framework in the nation. At present, America’s populace is expanding quick. In any case, there are a few who are not recorded as legitimate vagrants of the nation. As indicated by the site of Ohama, the quantity of undocumented workers had expanded for in excess of 40 percent since the year 2000. This shows there is an inexact of 500,000 individuals who lives unlawfully or who exceeds in the nation consistently. Migration strikes are ineffectual in light of the fact that a gauge of 3,600 arressts were made in the year 2006. This solitary shows that the proportion against the quantity of found illicit migrants versus the absolute number of unlawful workers doesn't reach 1%. (barrackobama.com, 2008) Barrack Obama had moved toward make making sure about outskirts for the nation. He had expressed in his arrangements that he is exceptionally ready to back-up the trustworthiness of the fringes. He would execute this through giving extra individuals, foundation and innovation required on the fringes and purposes of section of the nation. Obama needs the framework to work in an ongoing way with the goal that the outsiders who had been audited as unlawful would be handily ousted to their nation of cause. Equivalent to Obama, Hilary Clinton needs to realize who is in the nation through the security of the country’s outskirt. She additionally concurs in having another innovation that would help stop the progression of unlawful settlers in the nation. Both Obama and Clinton had brought up the security of the outskirt. Be that as it may, Obama’s plan had been progressively explicit regarding what moves should the administration make so as to make sure about the outskirts. Clinton had expressed the security of the outskirts however she didn't determine what specific part of security must be never really fringe. Hilary Clinton had referenced in her arrangements that the businesses must keep the law against utilizing and abusing illicit workers. Clinton had suggested that another innovation to help stop the progression of undocumented settlers in the nation and a business confirmation framework that is widespread, precise and opportune. Military enclosure Obama then again would evacuate motivations for migrants to enter the nation unlawfully. This would be finished by pinpointing the businesses who enlist undocumented settlers. Endless supply of these businesses, comparing discipline would be done to these businesses who had been found to recruit illicit settlers. Taking a gander at the plans of both Presidential up-and-comer, Hilary Clinton’s proposal on the execution of an innovation for unlawful work is a decent measure to decide consequently who are the illicit migrants. Sleeping shelter Obama’s plan focused on the businesses and the relating discipline that would be given to such. The contrast between these plans is that Hilary needs to decide the illicit outsiders and the businesses while Barrack needs to know the businesses just and not the unlawful workers of the nation. Among the laws and guidelines that the two applicants needed to organize it is the group of the unlawful foreigner and the illicit settler. Hillary intends to fix the movement framework. She had expressed that the present movement framework on occasion is the motivation behind why families are harmed and compelled to be separated in view of the present laws. Accordingly, Hillary Clinton had noticed a national enthusiasm for the families. She had presented a change during the thought of the migration change charge that would secure the family. Obama’s plan is to fix the migration administration and increment the quantity of permitted lawful settlers to be with their families and satisfy need for occupations that businesses can't fill. Obama had noted in his arrangements bringing out unlawful workers out by giving a framework that would permit illicit settlers to increase legitimate status if the outsider is in a decent remaining to pay a fine, gain proficiency with the English Language, and well behaved so as to become residents of the state. He had additionally remembered for his arrangements to assist citizenship to the military soldiers who are outsiders and serves America. This populace is around 5% of the all out US troops populace. Hilary Clinton couldn't observe this things on her arrangements in movement. Be that as it may, she had noted realities on the effect of movement arrangements on the laborers. She would observe the specialist programs that misuse laborers and makes modest work that sabotages the wages of the U.S. laborers. The privilege of a specialist to work in safe conditions with average wages had been noted in her arrangements. Clinton would bolster Ag Jobs programs. This program is tied in with keeping agrarian industry enthusiastic and empower horticultural specialists reasonable wages and work securities that they need. As an end, the two applicants have noticed a few significant issues that should be handled with respect to Immigration. Both had established that the undocumented workers must be known. The enormous number of unlawful foreigners in America is disturbing that is the reason, them two had made plans promptly so as to contain the issue. Hilary Clinton had tended to the issue of outskirt security, illicit outsider work, worker family decision and modest work abuse. Sleeping shelter Obama then again had tended to fringe security, illicit settler work, privileged of the foreigner soldiers and changing over unlawful migrants into residents. In view of the introduced plans, Obama’s show more subtleties and furthermore looks on the reasonable side of the issue. Explicit arrangements are indicated in his arrangements and this has made his arrangement increasingly sensible. Works Cited: Obama 2008. â€Å"Immigration†. 2008. Obama for America. 28 March 2008. Adult Learning Theory: Andragogy The dispute of how adults learn is an ever developing subject matter since the 1920’s when adult learning became a professional field of practice (Merriam, S., 2001). Questions such as, do adults learn differently from children? Are adults able to learn quicker, independently, or in the same environment? These are just some examples of a multitude of questions that have been raised since scientists began investigating Adult Learning. Action learning’s foundation is utilizing real world projects as a means of learning usually in a group setting. Experimental Learning operates on the premise that people learn better by doing the action and reflect on their experience. Project Based Learning focuses on the group dynamics and solving complex problems. The group learns through research, contemplation and reflection are the building blocks of this particular theory. The Aztecs Essays (1197 words) - Aztec Gods, Aztec, Tenochtitlan

The Aztecs The Aztec Empire History The center of the Aztec civilization was the Valley of Mexico, a huge, oval basin about 7,500 feet above sea level. The Aztecs were formed after the Toltec civilization occurred when hundreds of civilians came towards Lake Texcoco. In the swamplands there was only one piece of land to farm on and it was totally surrounded by more marshes. The Aztec families somehow converted these disadvantages to a mighty empire known as the Aztec Empire. People say the empire was partially formed by a deeply believed legend. As the legend went, it said that Aztec people would create an empire in a swampy place where they would see an eagle eating a snake, while perched on a cactus, which was growing out of a rock in the swamplands. This is what priests claimed they saw when entering the new land. By the year 1325 their capital city was finished. They called it Tenochtitlan. In the capital city, aqueducts were constructed, bridges were built, and chinapas were made. Chinapas were little islands formed by pilled up mud. On these chinapas Aztecs grew their food. The Aztec Empire included many cities and towns, especially in the Valley of Mexico. The early settlers built log rafts, then covered them with mud and planted seeds to create roots and develop more solid land for building homes in this marshy land. Canals were also cut out through the marsh so that a typical Aztec home had its back to a canal with a canoe tied at the door. In the early 1400s, Tenochtitlan joined with Texcoco and Tlacopan, two other major cities in the Valley of Mexico. Tenochtitlan became the most powerful member of the alliance. Montezuma I ruled from 1440 to 1469 and conquered large areas to the east and to the south. Montezuma's successors expanded the empire until it extended between what is now Guatemala and the Mexican State of San Luis Potosi. Montezuma II became emperor in 1502 when the Aztec Empire was at the height of its power. In 1519, the Spanish explorer Hernando Cortes landed on the East Coast of Mexico and marched inland to Tenochtitlan. The Spaniards were joined by many of the Indians who were conquered and forced to pay high taxes to the emperor. Montezuma did not oppose Cortes because he thought that he was the God Quetzalcoatl. An Aztec legend said that Quetzalcoatl was driven away by another rival god and had sailed across the sea and would return some day. His return was predicted to come in the year Ce Acatl on the Aztec Calendar. This corresponded to the year 1519. Due to this prediction, Montezuma II thought Quetzalcoatl had returned when Cortes and his troops invaded. He did not resist and was taken prisoner by Cortes and his troops. In 1520, the Aztecs rebelled and drove the Spaniards from Tenochtitlan, but Montezuma II was killed in the battle. Cortes reorganized his troops and resurged into the city. Montezuma's successor, Cuauhtemoc, surrendered in August of 1520. The Spaniards, being strong Christians, felt it was their duty to wipe out the temples and all other traces of the Aztec religion. They destroyed Tenochtitlan and built Mexico City on the ruins. However, archaeologists have excavated a few sites and have uncovered many remnants of this society. Language: The Aztec spoke a language called Nahuatl (pronounced NAH waht l). It belongs to a large group of Indian languages, which also include the languages spoken by the Comanche, Pima, Shoshone and other tribes of western North America. The Aztec used pictographs to communicate through writing. Some of the pictures symbolized ideas and others represented the sounds of the syllables. Food: The principal food of the Aztec was a thin cornmeal pancake called a tlaxcalli. (In Spanish, it is called a tortilla.) They used the tlaxcallis to scoop up foods while they ate or they wrapped the foods in the tlaxcalli to form what is now known as a taco. They hunted for most of the meat in their diet and the chief game animals were deer, rabbits, ducks and geese. The only animals they raised for meat were turkeys, rabbits, and dogs. Arts and Crafts: The Aztec sculptures, which adorned their temples and other buildings, were among the most elaborate in all of the Americas. Their purpose was to please the gods and they attempted to do that in everything they did. Many of the sculptures reflected their perception of their gods and how they interacted in their lives. The most famous surviving Aztec sculpture is the

Differences in the movie and book of Shawshank Redemption essays

Differences in the movie and book of Shawshank Redemption essays The novella Shawshank Redemption and Rita Hayworth by Stephen King is the basis of the 1994 movie The Shawshank Redemption directed by Frank Darabont. This moving and inspirational film follows the book very closely in relation to the characters and plot, however does include some very significant changes. These range from the atmosphere in which the characters must live, to furthering your understanding of Andys goals and desires, and to examine the idea of redemption. The ways in which this is achieved are very effective and do not detract from the original sentiments or feelings that you get from the book but strengthen the film to make it as powerful a piece that it is. The cruel reality of prison is established straight away by the use of additional scenes and the altering of events that occur. When Andy first comes to Shawshank Prison one of the felons that was brought in at the same time as Andy is reduced to tears on his first evening sleeping in the jail. Due to his insisting that he doesnt belong [t]here Captain Hadley beats him so badly that the prisoner dies later that night from the sustained injuries. This is a major difference from the book and a very significant one. This introductory scene establishes the harsh life in prison, which Andy is going to have to deal with for a long time. There are a lot of unjustified beatings and deaths within the prison that are allowed to happen because the warden or guards are the ones administrating them. When warden Norton is looking for a way to silence Tommy Williams to ensure that Andy remains where he is he, Norton chooses the most despicable thing to do. He has Tommy murdered by one of the guards who shoots him from a watch tower. This enforces the sense of brutality as in the book warden just moves Tommy to a minimum security prison, but the fact that he is shot several times instead, strengthens the over all morose mood of the set...

Gullivers Travels by Jonathan Swift Review

Gullivers Travels by Jonathan Swift Review There are few great satirists who manage to judge their work so finely that it can be considered both a rip-roaring, fantastical adventure story suitable for children and adults alike, as well as a searing attack on the nature of society. In his Gullivers Travels, Jonathon Swift has done precisely that and has bestowed upon us one of the great works of English literature in the process. A tale recognized far more widely than it is read, the story of Gullivera traveler who is, in turns, a giant, a tiny figure, a king and an idiotis both excellent fun, as well as thoughtful, witty and wise. The First Voyage The travels that are referenced in Swifts title are four in number and always begin with an unfortunate incident that leaves Gulliver shipwrecked, abandoned, or otherwise lost at sea. On his first misadventure, he is washed up on the shores of Lilliput and awakes to find himself tied down by a hundred tiny threads. He soon realizes that he is a captive in a land of tiny people; compared to them, he is a giant. The people soon put Gulliver to workfirst of a manual kind, then in a war with neighboring people over the way that eggs should be properly cracked. The people turn against him when Gulliver puts out a fire in the palace by urinating on it. The Second Gulliver manages to return home, but he soon wishes to get out into the world again. This time, he finds himself in a land where he is tiny compared to the giants who live there. After numerous close encounters with the large animals that populate the land, and achieving some fame for his tiny size, he escapes Brobdingnaga place he disliked because of the boorishness of its peoplewhen a bird picks up the cage in which he resides and drops it into the sea. The Third On his third voyage, Gulliver pass through a number of lands, including one whose people literally have their head in the clouds. Their land floats above the normal Earth. These people are refined intellectuals who spend their time in esoteric and entirely pointless pursuits while others live belowas slaves. The Fourth Gullivers final voyage takes him to a near utopia. He finds himself in a land of talking horses, called the Houyhnhnms, who rule over a world of brutish humans, called Yahoos. The society is beautifulwithout violence, pettiness or greed. All the horses live together in a cohesive social unit. Gulliver feels that he is a stupid outsider. The Houyhnhnms cannot accept him because of his human form, and he escapes in a canoe. When he returns home, he is upset by the sordid nature of the human world and wishes he were back with the more enlightened horses that he left. Beyond the Adventure Brilliant and insightful, Gullivers Travels, is not simply a fun adventure story. Rather, each of the worlds that Gulliver visits exhibits the features of the world in which Swift livedoften delivered in a caricatured, inflated form that is the stock in trade of a satirist. Courtiers are given influence with a king dependent on how well they are at jumping through hoops: a sideswipe at politics. Thinkers have their head in the clouds while others suffer: a representation of intellectuals of Swifts time. And then, most tellingly, humanitys self-regard is punctured when we are portrayed as the beastly and incoherent Yahoos. Gullivers brand of misanthropy is aimed at the lampooning and improvement of society through a form that is far removed from any kind of serious political or social tract. Swift has a deft eye for an excellent image, and a uproarious, often bawdy sense of humor. In writing Gullivers Travels, he has created a legend which endures up to our times and beyond.

Marketing plan Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

Marketing plan - Essay Example This is because Carl’s Jr. was selling the same type of hamburgers but at half the price. Others offer that the accompaniments that were served with the hamburger, mustard/mayo sauce on potato roll to be specific resulted to the failure. The mega campaign which failed was also partially blamed for the product failure as it targeted the adult population only. Still, some customers offer that the high calorie in the burger was the reason behind the product failure to capture the market. Background McDonalds is undoubtedly one of the fastest growing companies in the fast food industry, which is dominated by a host of players. Some of these players include Carl’s Jr, Burger King, KFC, and Pizza hut. These competitors pose a threat to McDonalds as they have conduced to the decrease in profits. This is because of the alternative products that these competitors continue to offer to the customers. McDonalds is a franchise of many companies with only 19% owed by the company. The company has over 33000 restaurants spread across the globe, serving close to 58 million customers. The company also has dozens of branches situated in 119 countries. McDonalds collected an average of $22,744,700 million in revenues from its global branches in 2009 with operating profits standing at $ 6,841000 million. Market Analysis Analysts predict that the fast food industry is growing at a first rate as customers’ demands for fresh quickly served meals surges. One of the dominant key players in this market is the McDonalds. The company is currently at its maturity level in the product life cycle. However, the fast food market faces constant decrement because of factors such as limited expansion sites, increasing operation costs, and market saturation. Vivid competition in the market has led to production promotion techniques such as price cuts, which have resulted to a diminution in profitability in the industry. Normal Forecast Most of the products that fail to capture the attention of customers in the market are not always inferior. In order for a company to succeed in launching a product, management has to undertake an in-depth research on the market. Through such an initiative, the organization can come up with creative ideas on the areas of packaging, market communication, and pricing. All these activities are facilitated through brainstorming with all the departments in the organization. Failure to consult will result to the release of uncompetitive products in terms of price, packaging, and market communication, into the market. The same applied to McDonald’s Arch Deluxe, which despite massive campaign, failed to sustain the market forces. As mentioned above, some of the reasons were high market price, mega campaign fail and poor market presentation. The other reason behind product failure is intensive competition. When many producers offer the same product to the market, the resultant effect will be edacious competition, where only t he superior products in price, packaging and advertising, end-up being selected by the customer. A good example is Carl’s Jr., which blocked the entry of McDonald’s Arch Deluxe. According to Brand marketing (2006, p. 3), Jack Greenberg McDonalds’ CEO, on an interview with the Financial Times consented that the company spent too much time deciding on when to launch the product. Most of the company’s marketing and branding decisions are made at the headquarters in Oak Brook, Illinois. As such, the

Paper discussing the theme and proving it in Sophocles's play Oedipus Essay

Paper discussing the theme and proving it in Sophocles's play Oedipus the King - Essay Example Aristotle (1998) stated â€Å"the tragic hero falls into bad fortune because of some flaw in his character of the kind found in men of high reputation and good fortune such as Oedipus.† In this statement, he indicates Oedipus had a flaw that, because of his high station, would ultimately cause his demise. In this essay I will argue how Oedipus from Oedipus the King by Sophocles is a protagonist driven by the passion of pride and how this largely contributes to his own downfall, placing the discussion within the context of the classical definition of a tragedy. As has been mentioned, the classic definition of a tragedy begins with the driving force behind the action which was referred to as hamartia. Hamartia is commonly referred to today as a tragic flaw (â€Å"Aristotle†, 1998). It is the concept that a noble man will fall not as the result of a vengeful god or violation of the god’s laws per se, but rather as a result of some inherent flawed portion of his character that causes him to act in a specific way or make a particular mistake in judgment. In much of Greek tragedy, this tragic flaw appears in the form of an excessive pride on the part of the protagonist that renders them incapable of listening to the counsel of others or of correctly perceiving the events taking place around them. This behavior or mistake will be the actual cause of ruin thus illustrating that the fall of great people is not necessarily the will of the gods but are instead manifestations of the gods allowing humans to act of their own accord, for b etter or worse. In Oedipus the King, the action opens as Oedipus is approached by plague-stricken masses asking help from him as king. When he sees his people gathered around him as if he were a god, his response to them is â€Å"What means this reek of incense everywhere, / From others, and am hither come, myself, / I Oedipus, your world-renowned king† (4-8). Although the people of Oedipus’ day did turn to

Cohabitation Essay -- Relationships Marriage Essays

Cohabitation Is cohabitation the right alternative to marriage? The increasing amounts or studies done in relation to cohabiting couples shows that this controversial topic is more common than most American’s think. Marriage used to be considered a defining event in a couple’s relationship, often marking the beginning of intimate relations, sharing a common household, and even childbearing. By definition, unmarried cohabitation is the status of couples who are sexual partners, not married to each other, and sharing a household (Popenoe). These two definitions seem to be similar in what each union reflects, but outwardly marriage includes a legal union that is meant to be a lifelong commitment. The meaning and permanence of marriage may be changing as cohabitation increases, (Casper 40) and this is in turn creating a society who is largely focused on self-fulfilling events, no commitment, and a lower understanding of what is best for our children. The research done regarding the effe cts cohabitation has on children, morality based on religious opinion, and the consequences of cohabitation explain why this growing change in society is wrong. Thirty years ago, living together for unmarried, heterosexual couples was against the law (Popenoe). It is facts like that which make the moral changes in society seem unpredictable. Who would have thought that something as sacred and universally understood as marriage would become so subtle. The proportion of unmarried women who were cohabiting tripled, from 3 to 9 percent, between 1978 and 1998, and unmarried men who were cohabiting increased from 5 to almost 12 percent (Casper 41). Statistics follow along with the changing society. Just as the age for marriage has increased, this has ... ...nstead of marriage. Especially when children are involved, there are many more aspects of living together outside of marriage that need to be taken into consideration. Not only obvious speculations like how the finances will be divided should be taken into consideration, but also morality and situational elements need to be discussed. Socially it may be acceptable, but that is wrong. That is society’s way of weakening marriage as a pure institution (Popenoe). Americans need to start reviewing what is right and what is wrong and reiterate the information into society. Sex should not be shown as glamorous and necessary, but rather as something significant that binds two people together. These themes would help turn around the quickly changing ideal of how family really should be, and turn it back to the right direction where unity is what the world is working towards.

Statistics Summary Essay

Statistics is commonly known as a tool used to make decisions, but the official definition of statistics, according to the textbook, is â€Å"The science of collecting, organizing, presenting, analyzing, and interpreting data to assist in making more effective decisions.† (Lind, Marchal, & Wathen, 2011) There are two types of statistics, descriptive, and inferential. Descriptive statistics provide information that can be used to show changes such as growth or decline in the area of study. Inferential statistics provide information about a specific topic of study by gathering information from samples. The science of statistics is also divided into levels, depending on certain characteristics of the information being analyzed. The first level is called nominal and contains data that is simply counted by category, such as the number of red cars on a car lot, or how many boys or girls are in a classroom. Another level is called ordinal. Ordinal data includes data that can be ranked in a certain order such as satisfactory ratings and championship rankings. The next level in statistics is called interval. Interval level not only ranks the data, but reflects a measurable difference between values. An example of this could be average inches of rainfall. The final level of statistics is called ratio. Ratio level includes data that is ranked, reflects a measurable difference between values, and also assigns a meaningful value to zero. An example of ratio data could be the number of positions filled in a company. Statistics is used for everything from estimating highway/bridge traffic to determine structural safety, to percentage of growth in population to determine adequate classroom space in schools, to the average units of water used per household to establish monthly water rates. Statistics, used formally and informally, affects nearly every aspect of our lives. Reference Lind, D. A., Marchal, W. G., & Wathen, S. A. (2011). Kate Chopin s The Story Of An Hour - 1754 Words

Considered one of American’s foremost feminist authors, Kate Chopin addresses issues challenging to the social and gender roles of the late 1800s. She celebrates women who seek their own identity and focuses on individual journeys of self-discovery. Her short story â€Å"The Story of an Hour† has a unique structure in that it adheres to a realistic premise, yet contains a protagonist who represents idealism. Faced with the news that her husband has died, Mrs. Mallard takes ownership of her own emotions and strength to control her life. However, her emotional revelation emerges only upon her husband’s supposed death. Chopin juxtaposes physical death with emotional freedom, suggesting actions and feelings are determined by social, psychological, and emotional forces instead of individual will. In order to show the fragility of Mrs. Mallard and her idealism, Chopin creates a microcosm in Mrs. Mallard’s bedroom of solidarity; a world of freedom and choice with in the bedroom and the world of deterministic forces on the other side of the door. Through the setting, Chopin explores the dichotomy between the desire to change one’s situation and the possibility to change one’s situation. In a realistic perspective, one is cautious of the truth as it cannot be changed by any means and determines one’s fate. As the news of Brently Mallard’s death arrives, family and friends are apprehensive to deliver the news to Mrs. Mallard. The caution, however, does not stem from genuine concern for herShow MoreRelatedKate Chopin s The Story Of An Hour1579 Words   |  7 PagesKate Chopin’s The Story of an Hour written in 1984 is a story of a woman who, through the erroneously reported death of her husband, experienced true freedom.
